Chelmsford senior swimmer Nora Williamson has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Female Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, for the week of Oct. 18-24.
In a showdown of undefeated MVC I squads, Chelmsford beat Andover for the first time in five years in dual-meet action on the strength of two individual victories by Williamson (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle). The Lions captain also swam a leg on a pair of winning relay foursomes (200 freestyle, 400 freestyle).
The Ithaca College commit was the state champion last year in the 50 freestyle.
“Nora did a wonderful job leading the team to victory over Andover,” said Chelmsford coach Harriet Kinnett. “Her performances in the 50 and 100 free were outstanding, but the greatest thrill came with her anchoring the 200 and 400 free relays, which brought the crowd to its feet.”
Said Williamson, “One of my most favorite parts of this season has been bonding with my teammates. We have so much fun training and spending time together outside of the pool.”
The Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. One male and one female student-athlete will be selected as Players of the Week throughout the year. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8 p.m. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selections but do not strictly dictate the decisions.
