Billerica senior Jackson Gearin has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Male Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, for September 6 through September 12. Gearin is the first male student-athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the fall season.
Gearin delivered on both sides of the ball to help Billerica football roll to a 34-0 win over Masconomet on Friday night. The senior quarterback and linebacker was a major factor throughout the victory, making an impact with the ball in his hands and on the defensive side.
At quarterback, Gearin carried the ball 22 times for 158 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns to power the Billerica offense. He was just as productive at linebacker, recording 10 tackles and adding an interception as the Indians shut out Masconomet.
