North Andover senior soccer standout Shane Lawlor has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Male Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, for the week of Oct. 25-31.
Lawlor netted a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Acton-Boxboro and added a goal in a 5-1 victory over Chelmsford last week. The forward is a major reason that NA owns a record of 14-1-3, won the MVC I championship and is bound for the state tournament.
“We are very proud and happy for Shane,” said North Andover head coach Kyle Wood. “Last year, Shane sustained a season-ending injury four games in. He’s making up for it by scoring 15 goals and five assists this season, bringing his career totals to 19 goals and six assists.”
Said Lawlor, “I’m incredibly proud of what our team has done this season. I wouldn’t trade the people I play with for anyone. I am thankful for everyone on my team and my coaches for this incredible season. All our hard work during the summer and fall has shown throughout this great season.”
The Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. One male and one female student-athlete will be selected as Players of the Week throughout the year. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8 p.m. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selections but do not strictly dictate the decisions.
