The Methuen High School and Tewksbury High School athletic departments announced on Thursday that Ryan Sheehy was tabbed the interim head coach of the Methuen/Tewksbury girls hockey team for the 2025-26 season.
Serving the last four seasons as an assistant for the Red Rangers, Sheehy played a big role in the team’s 16-1-3 regular season that yielded a deep postseason run to the Final Four. Dave O’Hearn, who was the head coach of the team since the 2022-23 season, recently lost his courageousĀ battle to cancer at age 48.
Sheehy has experience as a USA Hockey official and was a four-year varsity star at Lowell High, where he had a hand in three MVC/DCL titles. He was a recipient of the 2013 Hobey Baker Character Award and Boston Bruins Sportsmanship Award and is currently an educator in the Methuen Public School System.
