Haverhill freshman Megan Doody has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Player of the Week for April 27 through May 3. Doody is the fifth student-athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the spring season.
Doody has made an immediate impact as a freshman on a surging Haverhill team that has compiled a 7-1 record atop the MVC 2. In a 10-8 win over Wachusett last week, Doody scored four goals and dished out two assists to power the Hillies to a notable non-league victory. Earlier in the week, she exploded for five goals and an assist in a 12-8 loss to Methuen.
“Megan has had a great freshman campaign so far,” said Haverhill head coach Christina Lynch. “She has speed and an innate ability to find the back of the net. Beyond stats, Megan is an incredibly coachable athlete who transitions feedback into on-field results. She’s got a team-first mentality and will continue to be an exciting player to watch as she continues to develop.”
The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
