Haverhill names Kate Abromovitch as new girls basketball coach

Haverhill has named Kate Abromovitch as its new girls basketball head coach, as announced by the school this week.

Abromovitch is one of the more accomplished athletes to ever come through the doors at Haverhill High. The 1989 graduate and All-American was the first 1,000-point scorer in school history and led Haverhill to state championships in 1987 and 1989.

She would go on to record 1,494 points at Fairfield University and is a member of both the Haverhill and Fairfield Hall of Fame.

Abromovitch also has a laundry list of coaching experience, including over 10 years in Connecticut at the high school ranks and stops at Fairfield University and Fordham University as a college assistant.

Haverhill turned in a 9-11 record this winter to just come up short of the postseason but took a giant step forward following a trio of consecutive four-win campaigns. There is a lot of optimism around the Hillies in 2026-27 with an abundance of returners, headlined by second-team all-conference selection Sydney Bautz.
