Methuen junior Caiden Hartley-Didio has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Boys Player of the Week for Oct. 6 through Oct. 12. Hartley-Didio is the third student-athlete chosen as Boys Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year, which is presented on a weekly basis.
Hartley-Didio transitioned to quarterback after Methuen (4-1) underwent a series of injuries at the position and has been a force for the Rangers. On Friday, the signal-caller totaled 201 passing yards and two touchdowns while accounting for 100 yards on the ground to power Methuen to a statement 30-20 win over Central Catholic. The upset marked the first Methuen win over the Raiders since 2010.
“Caiden’s toughness is elite,” said Methuen head coach Ryan Dugan. “I don’t just mean physical either. He was thrown into an incredible tough position during such a crucial point in our schedule. He has responded with mental toughness and he understands things aren’t always perfect, but you just win the next thing you can win. He’s one of the most coachable kids I’ve coached in 15 years. He doesn’t say much, just listens to what I have to say and has phenomenal work ethic. The team feeds off his energy in the games which has led us to huge wins over some of the best teams in the state the last two weeks.”
The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
