Central Catholic junior Jeremiah Mateo Mora has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, for May 18 through May 24. Mateo Mora is the eighth student-athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the spring season.
Mateo Mora enjoyed a record-breaking day at the Merrimack Valley Conference outdoor track and field championships on Saturday. The junior broke a pair of school records in the 400-meter hurdles and the triple jump as Central Catholic finished in second place. Netting a 54.60 in the 400 hurdles for first place, his mark in the triple jump (46-02.75) earned him second place. Mateo Mora capped off a memorable day on the track with gold in the 110 hurdles (14.79).
“Jeremiah’s performance at this weekend’s MVC conference meet will be remembered as one of the best ever by a CCHS Raider,” said Central Catholic head coach Mike Leal. “He has been consistently dominant all season, showing exceptional talent, competitiveness, and drive. As a junior, his growth has been remarkable, and the sky truly is the limit for what he can achieve.”
