Player of the Week: Maggie Stoddard, Andover Swimming

Andover junior swimmer Maggie Stoddard has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Female Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, for the week of Oct. 4-10.

The versatile Stoddard has been shining all fall for Andover and is undefeated in all six dual meets to date. Last Wednesday, against Boston Latin, she took first place in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle, and swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Last Friday, Stoddard captured first in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.

“Maggie is a true team player, always willing to swim any event,” said Andover head coach Patty Barrett. “She is versatile and a true competitor, always giving 100% in her races, and she is incredibly supportive of her teammates.”

Said Stoddard, “It’s been so much fun and such an honor to be a part of this amazing team. We’ve had a great season with some incredible competition. My team and I are really focused on our training and looking forward to finishing strong.”

The Player of the Week, presented by MTM Insurance, is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. One male and one female student-athlete will be selected as Players of the Week throughout the year. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8 p.m. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selections but do not strictly dictate the decisions.
