Player of the Week: Kayleigh Martin, Tewksbury Softball

Tewksbury sophomore Kayleigh Martin has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Player of the Week for April 13 through April. 19. Martin is the third student-athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the spring season.

In a trio of Redmen victories last week, Martin was 7-for-14 at the plate with four RBIs and a triple. In a 15-0 win over Lowell, the sophomore was 4-for-5 and was at the center of Tewksbury’s offensive explosion. She’s been a steady presence in the Redmen lineup all spring and currently leads the team with a .538 average, 14 hits and eight RBIs.

“Kayleigh has been a key contributor all season long,” said Tewksbury head coach Kirsten Dick. “She’s consistently set the tone at the plate by getting on base and creating opportunities for the girls following her in the batting order. She’s also extremely solid in the outfield. Her all-around play and great attitude have made her such a big part of this team’s success so far!”

The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
