Girls Player of the Week: Izzy Tanguay, Haverhill Soccer

Izzy Tanguay

Haverhill junior Izzy Tanguay has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Girls Player of the Week for Oct. 27 through Nov. 2. Tanguay is the sixth student-athlete chosen as Girls Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year, which is presented on a weekly basis.

Tanguay was rock-solid between the pipes for Haverhill last week, pitching a pair of five-save efforts as the Hillies finished their 9-5-4 regular season with a tie against Tewksbury and a loss to Wilmington. She also had a nine-save outburst in a 2-0 win over Essex Tech and has amassed 66 saves in the regular season. But perhaps her biggest performance came this week, as she posted a shutout in the team’s 2-0 state tournament upset over No. 30 Algonquin.

“She had a shutout for our first tournament win. This is not her original spot, and she has stepped up,” said Haverhill head coach Krystyna Callagy.

The Hillies are slated to battle No. 3 Wellesley on Wednesday in the Division 1 round of 32 at 6:45 p.m. Haverhill finished with a 5-3-2 league record en route to a second-place finish in MVC 2. Under Tanguay’s direction, Haverhill allowed just 34 goals to trail only Dracut (33 goals) for the fewest in MVC 2.

The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
