Girls Player of the Week: Caroline Vaughan, Andover Field Hockey

Andover sophomore Caroline Vaughan has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Girls Player of the Week for Sept. 29 through Oct. 4. Vaughan is the second student-athlete chosen as Girls Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year, which is presented on a weekly basis.

Vaughan has been a key cog in Andover’s dominant 10-1-1 start to the season and has compiled seven goals and five assists as only a sophomore. Vaughan tallied two goals in the team’s 6-0 win over Tewksbury before finding the back of the net in a 7-0 win over Dracut. On Monday, she scored a pivotal goal in the Golden Warriors’ 3-1 win over North Andover.

“Caroline works hard wherever we put her on the field,” said Andover head coach Bridget Morris. “As she is only a sophomore it is nice to have a younger player with such versatility. She can play either mid or forward and is just as good in either position.”

Morris added that Vaughan has “some of the best stick skills on the team” and has already amassed 14 goals and six assists in her career. Andover enters the homestretch of its season on Wednesday against Chelmsford and is a big threat to return to a fifth straight Division 1 state final.

The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
