Upset alert. How about Billerica? The Indians stormed down to Bishop Stang and upset the No. 5 team in the bracket as the No. 28 seed. Cam Amenkowicz was fantastic for Billerica on the mound, lasting all seven innings and recording nine strikeouts in the shutout. Offensively, Billerica did its damage in the fourth inning, when a lead-off walk from Ryan Nelson set the tone for a three-run salvo. After an Amenkowicz single sent Nelson to third, Ryan Fisher pelted a two-run double before Travis Melzard brought him home on a fielder’s choice. Billerica will play No. 12 North Attleboro in the round of 16.
No. 13 Dracut 6, No. 20 Joseph Case 5
It didn’t look good for the Dracut High baseball team when it went down 5-0 in the first inning of Sunday’s state tournament game. But as they have done all season, the Middies battled. Dracut steadily climbed back with two run salvos in the second, fourth and sixth innings to advance to the round of 16. Owen Conant was 2-for-4, and Colby Pratt was excellent in relief. In 3.2 scoreless innings, he totaled three strikeouts. Chad Vigeant posted a one-run single in the sixth to give Dracut a 6-5 lead after Brenden Modeski dumped a single into right field to tie the game at 5-5 earlier in the inning. Ryan Cole and Conant also batted in runs.

Matt Donovan had three goals and an assist and Tommy Farrell scored twice and dished out two helpers as North Andover played to a round of 32 boys lacrosse win. Chase Seidel, Jack Buelow and Josh Kuberski rounded out the scoring. Aidan Smith made eight saves in net.
