Lowell senior Deb Kisekka has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Player of the Week for Dec. 29 through Jan. 4. Kisekka is the second student-athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the winter season.
The Red Raiders are off to a flying 6-0 start on the season, and the talented guard is a big reason why. Her week was highlighted by tournament MVP honors at the Waltham Holiday Tournament, as Kisekka pocketed 12 points in the finals to push Lowell to victory. Kisekka is averaging 20 points per game.
“Deb has been amazing for us thus far,” said Lowell head coach Dan Sargent. “She is averaging 20 and 8 and playing great defense. She leads by example and has an amazing motor. Deb is a huge reason for the early team success this season.”
Kisekka’s torrid week also yielded a 24-point performance over Arlington. Lowell is currently the only undefeated team standing in the Merrimack Valley Conference. The Red Raiders beat Chelmsford on Tuesday, 42-29.
The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
