Lowell junior Joshua Amankwaah has been selected as the Valley Sports Daily Boys Player of the Week for Nov. 3 through Nov. 9. Amankwaah is the seventh student-athlete chosen as Boys Player of the Week for the 2025-26 school year, which is presented on a weekly basis.
Amankwaah was unstoppable on the ground in Friday’s historic 29-21 win over Methuen that produced Lowell’s first playoff victory since 2013. Amankwaah carried the ball 11 times for 45 yards and totaled three touchdowns in the road win at Nicholson Stadium. His game-winning score in the final minutes broke a 21-21 tie in the MVC classic.
“When I know I’m on the goal line, I know to just push it through and tuck the ball in, secure the ball, and get in there,” Amankwaah said after Friday’s win.
Look for Amankwaah to be a big presence for Lowell as the Red Raiders hit the road on Friday for a matchup with No. 2 Springfield Central in the Division 1 round of 8.
The Player of the Week is selected by the Valley Sports Daily staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at 8:00 PM. There may be a poll posted on Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
